DRS Association members agrees on first Position Paper to EU
DRS Association welcomes a revision of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive in a position paper recently sent to the EU.
DRS Association states that the draft regulation contains several positive elements, which support transition to a circular economy in Europe. Especially the clear recognition of Deposit and Return Systems as key players in terms of ensuring sustainable material loops.
However, some of the proposed regulations seem contradictory to the purpose of green transition, which is why the Association finds it crucial to ensure further adjustments and modifications. Among others that the reuse target for beverage packaging must not counteract with DRS-obligation and that harmonized labels should support, not confuse consumers.
